So . . . I'm trying to figure out why it is that I've never thought to include these books in the purse! I mean, sheesh!

For anyone who doesn't know this bit of personal trivia, the honorable N.D. Wilson is my very own younger brother. Which means of course, that with my priviledged standing as the much respected and revered older sister, I can prevail upon him to inscribe the book for you if indeed you happen to be the lucky winner. And it's no use saying that you already have a copy - that's no reason not to enter. Think of all the people who need one for Christmas! You can wrap up your old copy and give it to them . . . keeping the autographed version for yourself.

If you haven't read it . . . well then. It's absolutely a must. Plus, it's the first in a trilogy . . . the last of which will be released this coming January. That gives you a nice comfortable amount of time to read it, and move on to your autographed sequel . . .

. . . and you won't have to wait too terribly long until the release of The Chestnut King. (Need to preorder anyone?)

Anyhow, there you go. Clearly you need to enter for this. And - because no purse is complete without it . . .

A Skirty! In winner's choice of size. So have at it!

Now - just in case you're feeling too lethargic to enter, I have a cautionary tale for you. A friend of ours in Oxford was a student when JRR Tolkien's wife had just died and he had moved back into Merton College. Our friend lived just downstairs from him. And he kept meaning to take his copy of Lord of the Rings upstairs to have him autograph it - but he just didn't get around to it before the summer holidays. And when he came back in the fall, Tolkien had died. Now, I'm not insinuating that Nate might die . . . but merely that you shouldn't pass up opportunities to get your books autographed!

  2. I need to read some good books! Pick me!

  3. My daughter and I have read both books and really enjoyed them. An autographed copy and skirty would make a great birthday gift for her - she'll be 9 on August 29th!

  4. I've read the first one and loved it. I'd love to read the second (and give away the first!). I have four girls (3 of them already with skirties) so a new skirty would always be a good thing around our house. You just can't twirl without them.

  5. I read both books and loved them. I mean read-until-1-in-the-morning-even-though-the-two-year-old-will-be-up-before-seven loved them! I have since given a copy of 100 Cupboards as a gift to a young friend, but we don't own either ourselves--yet. Would love to win autographed copies, and, as we are equally enamored with the skirty we have, winning one of those would be lovely, too. Thanks!!

  10. Oooo. We love good books at my house. I haven't seen these before, but if I don't win, I'll reserve them at the local library. Unfortunately, the books don't come with skirties there. Go figure.

  11. I just read 100 Cupboards this summer and I loved it! I'm reading Dandelion Fire right now. Nate's a splendid author. I NEED TO WIN THIS. Because for one thing, I have a younger sister who would like to read the books (complete with Nate's signature). For another, I've never had anything autographed before!!!! Yep, count me in for this puppy, er, purse.

  15. As a young family, we are desperately trying to find ways to build a library for our children. We want them to love reading, love *good* books, and love both learning & imagining.
For the sake of my sweet children, I hope you pick me. :)

  23. I absolutely love reading childrens' books! I've been meaning to read one of your brother's for a while, but have not gotten around to it yet. So, if I actually HAD a copy, I might put it more on the top of my reading list.... and its being autographed would certainly help!

  27. I've been holding off on ordering the books since my little ones are a bit young....but the fact is I'm very curious to read them :o) And my girls aren't too young to need skirties, we just got our two new ones in the mail yesterday. My three year old took the picture of your daughter climbing the tree that comes in the package to bed with her at naptime and I could hear her "reading" the card for about half an hour :o)

  28. Read them.(out loud to our sons) Loved them. Would like to own the books, too. And a skirty for our daughter would be delightful.

  59. These stories look so charming! I must consider collecting all three. As a beginner in children's illustrating, I am always looking for lovely new examples to enjoy and be inspired by.

By the way, I must say, Rebekah, that your blog, website, and girls clothing are all absolutely charming. I saw your full-page advertisement in World magazine, and am so glad I did. Wouldn't miss seeing your charming site, blog and business for the world!

  60. I too saw the ad in WORLD and boy howdy I am just so excited! It is so hard to find modest, beautiful, twirly skirts!! My husband and I both grew up loving the Little House series...this is modern prairie style! I'm using exclamation points in every sentence - wow! Any chance you'll branch out into women's sizes soon...? ;-) I've got two girls (and a boy) and the oldest turns five in January...I'm pretty sure she'll be getting a turquoise gypsy skirt!

  65. I don't think I need to tell YOU how badly we need skirties around here: I have two twirling girlies, ages 3.5 and 5.5.

I dare not open your website with them in the room, or I'll never hear the end it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your clothing!

(My DH and I were in Oxfordshire for 6 weeks in summer of 1999 while he attended a summer course at Magdalen College. Dare I say, "brilliant"!? Oh dear, I'm slipping into full BBC mode now...)
